Millstones, Padley Gorge, Derbyshire
In the odd idle moment I often flick back the calendar in the files to similar times a few years ago. In this case back to 2014, it was a November very different from this year. The trees were bare, whilst not frosty still very cold and damp.
This image came up (in colour) so I though I would try reworking it, reducing the colour saturation to more accurately match the feel of that rather dull November day.
I think it works alright….Even though we have enjoyed a wonderful late summer and autumn, for which we should be very grateful, it probably more accurately reflects todays mood on another dull November day.

Oh, lovely…speaks of times long past, and puts me in mind of Alan Garner’s writing……

I guess you could be right. I used to know the area around Alderley Edge in Cheshire very well and the original legend of the Wizard and the Rasingaling Man….I guess Alan Garners book The Weirdstone of Brisingamen is based very much upon this legend. I haven’t read many of his books mainly because they are classed as children’s books whilst true is perhaps psychologically limiting for broader readership.

His more recent books, Thursbitch and Boneland are for adults…

Very nice image David – love the muted colours.

Glad you like the treatment….the colours were not that strong but somehow felt that my eye saw them more muted….perhaps the light drizzle at the time didn’t help. 🙂

I think it definitely helps the image, and the mood 🙂
