Tuesday was the last day of snow, even though it was still cold the bright sun started to melt what was by now a thin covering. Grass was soon peaking through and apart from the odd sheltered bush, none remained upon the trees…giving a different view through the woods…
Whilst it was still cold enough for our lake to remain frozen there was that ominous cracking across the surface, so even here the thaw had started…

The blue skies became hazier but the sun still tried to add some extra charm to what had been another rather nice day for December..

As the day progressed we began to get weather warnings that rain was on the way. So it was no surprise to wake this morning to a very wet grey day. Not that we are in any doubt that we will get more snow sometime this winter but for the moment the forecasters are being rather vague.

Until recently we have been a mixed bag but mainly flat light, a couple of descent sunny days. But on Sunday after the good fall of snow we had the best day of the year – we went up to Garve and Loch Glascarnoch 1.5ft snow and the most brilliant sunshine – Lossiemouth as usual got away with murder

We can have no complaints about weather in our part of the UK. It has been an extended summer, mainly dry which in turn went into a late autumn. In fact two weeks ago I would have still considered it was autumn. Frankly the snow we have had is nothing special and for some reason we make a meal of it. (Even 4 weeks in Scotland in September we enjoyed some great sunny weather…though we also had two Gales, one on Skye the other at Rosemarkie)

May sound strange that despite 4 weeks in the highlands it was all rather ‘last minute’ ….but we of course will be back and I will bring my pocket money with me. Cheers 🙂

Snow’s gone overhere but not in the centre of my country, North and East as they had a surprise this morning. All white again. With sometimes a short period of hail, or sleet (or both) we saw the Sun again today. Due to enormous rainfall the road in front of the building had flooded abour an inch high. They send a huge truck to suck up the water as much as possible. Cars can drive again over the road now. This truck came back 6 times. And still there is a lot of water at the foot of the dyke on which my building stands. We now know why dykes are great. This melt and rain water would have come into the houses otherwise. 🙂
