It is a lovely place…now under protection but back in 1940’s this was a busy quarry the stone being used for building 3 giant dams creating reservoirs to feed northern cities. Prior to that, as the mill stone illustrates, it was a simpler quarry where the gritstone was carved into grinding wheels (like many other quarries in this part of Derbyshire) ๐

Always a favourite walk at any time of the year, but with bare trees and the old leaves scattered about its just a touch more special ๐
