Weather warnings for severe winter weather and yep, in parts of the UK it has indeed been bad. So far here in our little corner of middle England we seem to have missed the worst. There was even some bright early morning sun, sun that cast long shadows but also had a hint of warmth in its colour. After a string of dark, damp days this was certainly a very welcome change even if short lived

So if one chose the right window in the day you were rewarded with a great walk through the woods..

We are so lucky at the moment. Yesterday we had another dire weather warning for snow and gales. Snow has indeed fallen and causing road chaos…..but we cannot believe our luck as we woke to no snow and blue sky and a an early morning sun. True we were aware of high winds during the night bot locally can see no damage. I don’t object to snow…but the extremes can continue to give us a miss 🙂

Fingers crossed. It has indeed been a winter of extremes.

Middle Earth… 😀 We have the ravaging gales now. Gail force 9-10 with gusts of 11 and higher. It’s rather nasty to be honest and fearful as well. My outside wall are made with plasterboard (the green ones you use in bathrooms) and then insulation and the outer wall with half sized bricks. When I pay my hand on the wall I can feel it moving… The storm also sucks the water away from the toilet pot and in the bathroom. Funny sound. We hope this will be over in three hours from now. And yeah… I am afraid to be honest. So I do long to quite Middle Earth. It’s beautiful and rather quiet…. 🙂

Extra… not all outside walls. Just the long one which faces West, North-West en North. SW is concrete and firm.

Results: 2 dead, over 60 lorries fell over, dozens of trees came down, several large roofs on appartment blocks blew away. Our trainservice is non existing as the nummber of trees and rubbish on the tracks is very large. Also the power lines are broken in several cases. The highest speed for gusts was in kilometers: 143 km. Which was right here. Almost 90 miles an hour.
I could do with a blanket of fresh fallen snow and still nobody that ventured outside. Lovely photo as well there.

Yep we saw the news. It was the eastern coast counties of UK that seemed to catch the worst before it gained speed and headed your way across the North Sea. Very odd that all round us folk have had bad weather yet we have enjoyed another sunny day….seems very strange
