Spring arrived with the New month of May…

The new month brought us some much needed sunshine…well for one day we enjoyed a warm spring day before the rains returned, I have a feeling that might well be the pattern of weather for the summer ahead.

But venturing out into the woods you just had to be struck by the rapid change.  From bare trunks and skeletons of branches we now have a rich green canopy getting thicker  if not by the moment certainly by the day. Progress in one way but bad news for the short lived Bluebells, now the canopy is cutting out the light they will soon wither and fade away…. but for now they still provide a typical spring woodland scene to explore…

Away from the woods signs that Spring is progressing are everywhere.  On the Lake the Lilly pads are rising to the surface, Marsh Marigolds are in flower and the trees are filling out with leaf and blossom whilst in the fields the rich yellow of Oil Seed Rape cannot be missed.

Whilst the rain did return at least we can see some promise for spring
