Misty start over Darley Abbey Park, Derby
Mist hung over the Derwent River Valley but a winter sun battled on in its efforts to break through the haze.

It was a calm day and unseasonably warm. But the rains from the past week have swollen the river now rather murky in colour and flowing rather fast, thundering over Darley Weir…

Despite a fast flowing river members of the local Rowing Club were out stretching their muscle in the early morning sun…

The Heritage Mills of the Darley Abbey Complex standing bright above the Derwent remind us of the industrial heritage of the area that depended so much upon water power.

Despite its industrial background and its close proximity to the City it still manages to offer a rural surround of tranquil peace and an ideal spot for a winter walk..

Are those Oak trees? The people and the benches look so small in comparison. They must be spectacular in the summer.

One Oak and the rest on that stand Beech…..a shady spot in summer, not a bad spot to watch the cricket (the seats overlook the Cricket Club)

I took a better look at that photo. At least the first tree looks like beech because of the leaves. Oak leaves look different. I lve knarled old oaks but also the stately beech like guardians. The wise oak and his guaridians. It look beautiful. Quintessential English, thos benches looking out on a cricket field. You had a beautiful sunshine but do you also have the coild South Easterly with it? 🙂
