Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge – Shadows

I just love shadows…they can be harsh or soft, whatever they do they add a dimension to a one dimensional image.

In situations like above the harsh shadows and the shaft on sunlight all act as a spotlight on these ancient Scottish Grave Markers at Kilmartin and the engravings.

Shadows can be the subject of the image…

or simply add a little drama…

and if you shoot directly into the sun it is definitely the shadows that create the image by creating silhouettes…

In addition to adding a little drama, Shadows can also be used to emphasis scale…

Give me a little sunshine and we will have shadows, life would be dull without them..

  1. Lovely images, words and insights. Light and shadaw – the one can’t live without the other. So we live in both shadow and light.

  2. Your images are flat-out stunning, David! Every last one of them. My hat’s off to you with admiration.
