I just love shadows…they can be harsh or soft, whatever they do they add a dimension to a one dimensional image.
In situations like above the harsh shadows and the shaft on sunlight all act as a spotlight on these ancient Scottish Grave Markers at Kilmartin and the engravings.
Shadows can be the subject of the image…
or simply add a little drama…
and if you shoot directly into the sun it is definitely the shadows that create the image by creating silhouettes…
In addition to adding a little drama, Shadows can also be used to emphasis scale…
Give me a little sunshine and we will have shadows, life would be dull without them..
“So maybe its good to live life in the shadows”
