I always look forward to finding the Red Deer Stags at the time of the Rut. This year time, the weather and the Stags failed to match up….
So here is a proud, handsome Stag from a previous year. Mud and sweat over his chest, bellowing away whilst both eating some Oak leaves but at the same time rubbing his antlers across the branches ‘scent marking’ his territory.

The most dramatic part of the Rut is when the stags lock antlers in rivalry is something I have yet to capture…. maybe next autumn 🙂
