Skippool Creek, Lancashire
Waiting for the tide. Here at Skippool Creek on the River Wyre in Lancashire, the high tide is necessary for boats to be able to make the run downstream to Morecambe Bay and open waters. Like much of our country and coastline, many tranquil places, were once the hive of industry and commerce. Skippool Creek, was just one of many ‘ports’ along the Wyre. All so small that it is hard to imagine there importance. Sailing ships heading off to the Americas, with travellers and adventurers seeking new lives in far off destinations.
Today it is the province of recreational yachting enthusiasts, all very dependant upon a high tide.

Great post David. I love imagining a scene and how it played out for people in years past. Thanks 😊
