Lambing time is now well underway for another farming season. I recall walking through a rather damp marshy field in the Lake District. As it was a busy Lambing season, we did our best to avoid walking through fields or creating any anxiety for the Ewes and their new borne lambs. Hence we found ourselves walking through a rather damp and undesirable field…a field that looked free from Sheep.
Not the case. The above Herdwick Mum was well camouflaged in the marshy reeds, not moving, pretending that we couldn’t see her and more particularly her tiny Lamb. We passed her and also pretended she wasn’t there.
Reminded me of that saying……. “All Sheep are Safely Gathered in”
Just like the Herdwick Mother….
