A Literary Prompt…..

LODORE-FALLS--_0147

“the Precipitation of fallen Angels from Heaven”

Lodore Falls, Borrowdale, The Lake District, Cumbria

Not my description of the magnificent Lodore Falls that tumble down from the heights of Ashness , down through a heavily wooded valley and on into Derwent Water.

They are the words of Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Poet, Philosopher, a friend of Wordsworth and a member of the group known as the Lake Poets.

I only came by this description by chance.  I am reading an inspiring book on Wild Places*, on one page, the writer was exploring descriptions of places that are perhaps hard to summaries in a few words.  This particular example, ascribed by Coleridge to Lodore Falls, I could recognise, a perfect fit….

“Precipitation of Angels”

  • The book is The Wild Places by Robert Macfarlane

Writing, Reading maybe out Exploring or simply sitting and gazing., as always….
