When in Northern Norway a few years ago, we were privileged to visit a Sami home and learn a little about the Sami culture. I say a little, as despite our hosts best efforts it was obvious there was so much more to learn about this traditional Lapland way of life and their resourceful – waste not philosophy.
Traditional Sami clothing, apart from obviously being warm in structure and layers, is bold and bright…… Red being a dominant colour.
The one question I failed to address was that of the ‘Tartan’ patterns….. never gave it a thought until we got home and reflecting on our photos. I assume Scottish Tartan evolved from the early settlers from these northern lands? Correct me if wrong 🙂
At work, at home or on vacation, as always……..
