Fradley Junction, Trent & Mersey Canal, Staffordshire
An early Spring morning and all is still and quiet at this normally very busy canal junction. It is here where the Coventry Canal joins the Trent and Mersey. A rare moment of tranquility at this location which has seen the Canals history change over the centuries. From a busy commercial transport network, witnessing the change from horse drawn barges, to self powered Narrowboats. Cargoes of every description carried in bulk, not as fast as FedEx or DPD, but for those early days of the Industrial Revolution, a vital efficient transport link.
Today, those cargoes have gone and the canal network is a prosperous Leisure hub for boaters, and for some, a permeant way of life on their Narrowboats.
Enjoy the Spring and its progress wherever you are… and as always….
