You know what this post made me think? Of course, I had to locate that lighthouse first in the photo and marvel at it. But then, that photo made me think of the amazing, long, and probably perilous journey across that wide ocean by ship that my ancestors took from England (and Germany) to land here in America.

And before the lighthouse was built, there were countless wrecks of sailing ships all along this coast…. Once they had navigated those hazards, the crossing was probably the safest part of the journey.
