Hellebores…. often called Christmas Roses, but we have never had them in flower at Christmas. For our garden they normally mark the start of February and a month where pre-Spring life starts to show.
But not this year. The Hellebore are yet to bloom…. the flower heads still showing at their base , but still tucked away yet to thrust the stems upwards and allow the petals to unfurl.
( I should mention this image is from a previous February, they also had wind and weather damaged stems so were rescued – not a flower we would normally cut for a bouquet )
Last year was a strange seasonal year. We often made mention of plants being either early or late from their once predictable seasonal cycle. Some plants that had struggled whilst others flourished far better than our memory could recall… though some just decided they had had enough and vanished.
But right now, in one corner of the garden, the Snowdrops have popped up once again, maybe a little later but here right now…. Spring must be on the way

February has arrived, new challenges and new hopes…. but also we ponder upon just what seasonal cycles will change in 2014.
No matter, we can do little to change this moment in time…
But we call try to….
Please Remember ….
Stay Safe …. Be Kind…. Look After Each Other
1st February

I actually do like the winter season as long as it’s cold and snowy. But this year, I’m ready to welcome spring and its lovely colors.
