A Post Box Topper.
Just out of passing interest, and just in case you are not familiar with this skillful knitting trend.
It started in the late Queens Golden Jubilee and quickly followed on at Remembrance Sunday. Toppers were created (or knitted if you prefer) of suitable appropriate subjects. These were displayed on the top of our familiar Red Post Boxes. Crowns, Soldiers and Christmas emblems have all featured as appropriate…. every topper different, yet all skilfully created…… and all able to withstand the worst of our weather.
The Topper above, is located near to Derby Cathedral and appeared shortly before Easter and welcomes in Spring.
Full marks to the crafts people who created this spring scene… all the more so, as this topper has had to survive some of the worst spring weather we have ‘enjoyed’ in late March and early April.
I hope it brings a smile to your face this Saturday morning…. and as always….
Please Remember ….
Stay Safe …. Be Kind…. Look After Each Other

Unfortunately our toppers also attract the scourge of mindless vandalism!

I nearly made the comment that of all the ones we have noted in our local travels, none had to my surprise ,been vandalised…. I would add that not all my travels have been in lets say ‘select’ areas. But it doesn’t surprise me.
