24th November…. the last Sunday before Advent
By tradition this Sunday is known as “Stir Up Sunday”…. the Sunday when the Christmas Cakes and Puddings are made. In some families, it is also the tradition, for all members of the family to give the final ingredients a stir (and for some) to make a wish.
I did say ‘some families’ but Jean, her Mother and Grandma always insisted it was far too late. The best Christmas Cakes and Plum Puddings needed to be made much earlier…. they then would have time to mature before Christmas.
No matter which point of view you adopt, I hope you will enjoy the final product…… though I always loved the aroma of spices and fruit, circulating in a hot Kitchen.
Stirring Up, licking the spoon or just enjoying the smells…. always….
Please Remember ….
Stay Safe …. Be Kind…. Look After Each Other

Sadly it is a tradition that is being lost to the pressure of instant purchase in the Supermarket….. no one seems to take the time these days, everything has to be instant.

Yes, great photograph dear David, and such a beautiful concept for Sunday, I tried to inagine, the aroma of spices and fruit, circulating in a hot Kitchen. Reminds me my old days with my Grandmother, her kitchen was like that. There was nothing that I didn’t like… Thank you, have a nice day, Love, nia

Yum. Over here, our kitchens are filled with pumpkin pie and roasted turkey aromas. And for our family, pumpkin bread.

I might enjoy it more if I didn’t have to do all the cooking. 😉
