When the shooting season arrives, and for a few weeks prior,, they have a Ranger patrolling. Last time I came across him, with his gun slung over his shoulder, we had a very vocal disagreement….. even though I was on the designated Right of Way and surrounded by Open Access Country. The majority of the year no problem. On some locations on the Derbyshire Moors with the shooting estates, there is still unlawful snare trapping and discoveries of shot Raptors. The Estates deny involvement …but it doesn’t happen elsewhere.

Well, it certainly isn’t sport. And dont get me started on heather burning..the so called controlled burns without a thought for wildlife.

interesting follow up to the Goyt pic. Today there is a wildfire on the moors to the left of the shot…strange like other Derbyshire wildfires its on a shooting estate. By all accounts the fire covers a very big area.
