Living in a rural area in the USA as I do, it’s hard for me to even imagine streets like this with old village cottages, but oh, how I’d love to see that sometime!

it is a lesson in, i guess, a lesson in local sustainabilty. Local stone cut to size and used to build both houses, chuches, schools, and factories. The colour of local stone was spefic to an area…hence the distinctivly regional colour identity of their older buildings. Now it just red brick but also mainly concrete in the cities.
