One Word Sunday Challenge (OWS)…. GEOMETRTY

Geometric shapes for this weeks One Word Sunday Challenge…I think they fit the bill for Debbie’s nominated word Geometry. More images below.

These form part of a rather fabulous Arbour, know as the Birdcage. It can be found in the gardens of Melbourne Hall, Derbyshire. It is the work of Ironsmith Robert Bakewell (1682-1752). Other famous works includes the Rood Screen in Derby Cathedral and the Gates of several important Derbyshire Houses.

Work started on the Birdcage in 1706 but was not completed till 1711….it is said that this masterpiece of wrought iron, a testament to his skills, actually left him penniless.
