Lindisfarne Castle, Holy Island, Northumberland
Lindisfarne Castle, on Holy Island, one of the larger Farne Isles and linked to the mainland via a tide regulated Causeway.
The Castle origins date back to the 16th century. But in more recent times it was re-modelled in the Arts and Craft’s Style by the renowned Architect Edward Lutyens.
Built on Holy Islands highest point, it provides great views over the North Sea and even better views of the Northumberland Coast. Well worth a visit… but check the tide tables, you can get marooned 🙂
