Dawn in the Hebrides and Gannets Feeding
The last day of September, autumn and winter approach, and if like the rest of this year, its approach will be like an express train….. just where does the time go to ?
Gannets taking the opportunity to feed before they start their long journey south to warmer winter climes on the other side of the equator…. another summer for them, a time for play. Then, next year, it will be the long return flight to nest and breed in these Scottish waters. The more you think about it, Gannets and other migratory birds have to be strong and so resilient.
So goodbye to September. I wonder what we have in store over the next 3 months of 2026.
Whatever you have planned and wherever you are, enjoy…. and as always….
Please Remember ….
Stay Safe …. Be Kind…. Look After Each Other

HI Nia…The Gannet is a fabulous bird to watch, when they dive into the sea for fish, they dive from height at speed, they fold their wings back against the body…. with their solid pointed beak and sleek body it looks much like an arrow. We have a saying…’as hungry as a Gannet’ which describes their apparent feeding frenzies. 😅
