Ripples across Derwent Water

There had been a storm overnight, but the following day at dawn the only sign of its passing were the ripples over Derwent Water.

Always nice to pause at Brandlehow Jetty whilst waiting for the small Ferry to take us over  to Keswick…..  a truly Cumbrian Lake District experience and always a pleasure

June…… The start of summer proper

A summer view over Derwent Water in the English Lake District, Cumbria.

(June 1st and it the first day of the meteorological summer)

This view is taken from Lodore Woods by Ashness Bridge.  Skiddaw mountain is to your right with the town of Keswick below.

Not always a peaceful spot,  as it is a great place to take in the view.   However, right now The Lake District National Park are still telling folk not to visit.  There will be many locals who are loving the peace of the surroundings to their homes…..  but of course many more who rely upon the Tourist Industry for their income.  It is going to be tough for them.  Nor can I see any real easing of the situation for some time to come..

No matter where you are….

Wordless Wednesday……. A Very Favourite Place

Location:-  Dawn, Derwent Water looking towards Skiddaw, Cumbria

I know, we keep popping back to Derwent Water. Over the years the magnetic draw of this corner of the Lake District has never diminished.  It is different in all light, all weathers and of course all seasons. This was a morning after several days of heavy rains as can be witnessed by the high water levels.  It was the calm after the storm 🙂

And there will be calm after the current turmoil…
