Not Everything Goes to Plan…

Yesterday was rather a grey dull day, some short bright intervals…. but the forecasters were confident that by 6pm the sky would clear and we would have sunshine till it went to bed. So an evenings walk over Stanton Moor seemed like a good plan, after all the Autumn Heather should be at it best.

But best laid pans often don’t go as predicted (or hoped for).  On the journey the sun did start to break cover giving hope…. but as we arrived at the moor it was far from encouraging….

But we were here…. so off to enjoy an evenings walk and let the weather do as it pleased.  It did just that.  Every so often the sun that was sinking lower would break through and just like a search light provide a blistering bright light to light up the surrounds…  admittedly briefly, but what a difference it made.

The Heather was lush, the Silver Birch glistened and The Nine Ladies Stone Circle basked in the occasional burst of evening light. The rather brash Cork Stone even looked more dramatic than usual.  But those clouds never left us.

Not what was expected but still a lovely evening on the moor, the ever changing skies, mixed with the heady aroma from the Heather and sweet smell of Birch, a  great end to the day.

So no complaints and home to bed….  tomorrow is a new day…. as always….
