The Birch are just staring to leaf… and its that bright Spring Green that exudes new life. That may sound like good news, but for the Bluebells it is not so good. Bluebells are short lived. They rely upon a clear view of the sky to burst from the ground, producing their distinctive flowers and of course their heady scent. As the leaf canopy expands, it darkens the woodland glades… and that is that for the Bluebells, which head back into hiding till next Spring.
This is the aptly named Spring Wood, located on the Derbyshire / Leicestershire border. A mixed woodland but I guess mainly Beech and Oak plus a few Silver Birch.

I hope you enjoyed a short stroll in Spring Wood at Spring time… just sorry I cannot bring you the scent and this mornings chorus of Bird songs.

So far, its not been a bad Spring… can I say that?… after this last winter we deserve it 🙂
and as always….
