Valle Crucis Abbey, Llantysilio, Denbighshire, Wales
Cistercian Abbey built in 1201 by Madog ap Gruffydd Maelor when he was the Prince of Powys Fadog.

Valle Crucis was ‘Dissolved’ arround 1537. The Abbey had become economically unviable, rather surprising as the area was a rich farming area. It was judged against the wealthier English Abbeys. and those comparisons of prosperity suggested Valle Crucis was not economically sound. The buildings have fallen into ruin, no doubt as was the custom, much stone would be robbed to build new structures in the community. But for a while parts of the Abbey became a Private Manor House.
Exploring the ruins, that today are in the care of CADW, they still provide an idea of he Abbeys once grandeur.
If you are exploring North Wales, Valle Crucis is a must visit location on your itinerary.

Sunday… a time to relax, reflect and perhaps plan , not just for the week ahead, but for the new month, the Spring and the Summer ahead… and of course , as always….
