Tonight, by simply moving the clocks forward by one hour, Spring magically comes to our world…well that is the way it feels. Psychologically it is a major moment in the progression of the years seasons..

Daffodils are leading the way forward but in the woods things are changing..

Sycamore and Beech stretch to reach the sky and that warmth that is now coming from the sun….and look closely enough you can detect the buds are swelling…still some way to go before each fresh green leaf unfurls.
The Yew Trees never lost their green mantle but as spring progresses the needles change from a dark green to a much more spring like green…

Reach the Pine woods and it is the smell that alerts you to the seasonal change….it is a distinctive mix of resin sap, pine and warm rotting leaves that makes a heady scent…

Down by the lake a wildflower more commonly associated with wet meadows has appeared. No doubt from a seed carried here by a bird this Yellow Cowslip looks a tad out of place….but just as welcome…

The Willows now weep, draping the recently bare branches with their fine green leave…

But just to remind us that winter has only just started to slip away the Hellebores (Christmas Roses) present a final and subtle display of flowers…

So its yippee the clocks go forward one hour…
