The Moors…Evening…a light Breeze….and the Aroma of Heather

Stanton Moor, Derbyshire

It has been hot, for us very hot, even the dogs were wisely seeking the shade.  But whilst the days are longer it was just perfect for a cool evening walk over the Heather glad moors. The Heather is just about at its best and the evening breeze caught all the herbal aromas.

Stanton Moor is far from being one of Derbyshire’s big moors but it is full of the character that makes a moor. High ground with open vistas, a few coppices of wind swept Silver Birch.  Throw in the odd burial cairn and ancient monument and with the lush Heather you have everything for a perfect evening walk.   Without sounding un-social it was also great to have the place to ourselves….apart from a few Sheep and a lone Hot Air Balloon ….so join us on a stroll…

It is still officially summer, but in the middle of August the sun suddenly dives for the horizon and the day ends in a golden glow….just great
