December 9th….and another un-seasonal day….Yippee

Morning-Glory

Another great morning of sunshine and mild weather, still much more like autumn than December in ‘winter’.  True there are now few leaves on the trees but the bonus is that nature now creates so many colourful leaf mosaics on the woodland floor….

I mentioned yesterday just how productive this autumn has been for fruit and berries.  So it is a little surprising that I have only now found a single Holly Bush sporting the famous red seasonal berries…and even then only in one small group….

But you cannot have seasonal Holly without the Ivy and that its enjoying a season of growth, climbing up any tree that is within striking distance, leaves glowing bright in the shade that it so loves…..

I know this super unseasonal weather cannot last for ever.  We did have one short but brutal reminder of just what nature can throw at us last week.  The TV and Web brings us news of ice and stow storm over many parts of North America and as we have learnt from history, that weather system will have a knock on effect on ours in the U.K. before too long.  So winter ‘proper’ cannot be far away.
