We haven’t as yet had winter even though January gave us record amounts of rain. In our part of the U.K. we haven’t, as yet, had any snow and very little frost. It is true that to the north and across the mountains they have had a winter covering but far from the usual winter whiteouts. February 1st and the Environment Agency has Flood warnings and the Met Office added a series of Storm and Gale warnings for today and the start of the new week. So it was a welcome surprise to enjoy some early morning sunshine in the woods, which even though the trees are bare still looks autumnal.
