Big Wood, Allestree at Dawn
The morning after the winter solstice has started well, the low sun with a subdued warmth reaching the darker parts of the woods.
They day started with clear blue skies and the sun just touching the tops of the trees….then lifting just high enough to start thawing what had been a very light frost, even in places giving a spring like look to the morning..
then bursting forth to welcome the first day on the climb back to summer

Now remember that country saying about Red Sky in the morning Shepherds warning …well maybe it is dead right. Once I got home I heard the weather forecast and this could well be the calm before the storm…….Storm Barbara is on its way from across the Atlantic.

Amazing and Fahaaabb!! And yes.. I did see the forecast.
Brace yourselves again. The British isles are so beautiful green because of all the rain (said Alan Tichmarch) but even rain can be too much of a good thing and accompanies by heavy storms it reminds me of the terrible things happening in 2014. Let’s hope it won’t come to that again. 😉

It does look as if it will cut a selective path across the UK and whilst we in our small part of the midlands look as if we may escape the worst we are mindful of what happened to others just over a year ago. Keep warm and dry.:-)
