Heather, Stanton Moor, Derbyshire
August and we start to see the moors turn purple. The heather is only just showing its small clusters of purple bells, but if the weather is kind it will become fuller and richer and then towards the end of September it will fade away for another year.
Stanton Moors may not be that high but for one little man it was quite a conquest…one to be proud of…

The main point of interest we were making for was to show Ewan the Nine Ladies Stone Circle…

Surrounded by trees and Heather the Nine Ladies is a magnet for those seeking a picnic lunch spot. Ewan had other ideas on exploring the circle and its stones…

Still pleased with his ‘mountaineering’ experience….it is a case of where next Granddad.

I’d love to walk those moors with a camera! But then you are doing an excellent job (so I don’t need to! 🙂 )

I love the colours coming…and heather especially. The little guy looks very happy and proud…so good to see children playing and exploring.

He has perhaps enjoyed more freedom to do kids stuff outdoors than most do these H&S days.
