Winter Solstice
Well here we are…made it through another year of very mixed seasons, the Winter Solstice is here. I suppose todays weather being very mixed and just a little unseasonal is typical of the unpredictable season of 2017. Temperatures are hovering around 11c, the Lake has thawed and the odd shower has freshened the day.
From tomorrow we can look forward to spring, then summer and no doubt a healthy mix of unpredictable weather. Enjoy

You’re in luck! We have had a shifting weather as well, but temperatures have been shifting from minus 10
to plus 2 degrees C. Our Christmas tree is holding out in the garage in a bucket of icewater, neartly frozen solid through the night but slowly thawing during daytime . . .

I guess the year will finish with the unpredictable weather we have “enjoyed” all year 🙂

Overhere it’s between 5 and 10 degrees Celsius. No outlook for anything other than grey, drizzle and mist. From Boxingday they expect less mist, because there will be some wind then. My tree stands proudly in the livingroom. Two big stars (I cannot hang them as I cannot drill holes for hooks in the concrete walls) stand on the radiators and one hanngs from the door to the hallway. In the evening all the lights are on on the big and in the small tree (on the sideboard) en in the stars as well. Also the candles burn. It was a very nice YULE celebration and it lasts for 12 days. ‘Winter is coming’ is what we say when Christmas is over again. Maybe frost en ice skating kids on the lakes and canals in January? At least we will SEE the extra daylight by the end of January anyway. 🙂
