Silent Sunday….So Off to Church

Beeley-2

Saint Anne’s Church, Beeley, Derbyshire

Spring comes to Beeley, a small village on the edge of the Chatsworth Estate, Derbyshire. The Church of Saint Anne, with is squat square Norman Tower dates back to around 1150AD.  It’s dark interior is cool on a warm day and an ideal spot for quiet contemplation.

The Gravestones also tell there own stories of the village and worth an exploration on its own all the more fulfilling in spring when the Daffodils are at there best.

  1. Quintesential English church with the square tower. You can find them on many Christmas Cards but they always look so much better in ‘real life’. I love them. All Saints church in Hunmanby is bigger than this one, but yes, it has the square tower. It also is in the middel of old gravestones and in spring hundreds of daffs. I so love these churches. And inside you find the feeling of quietness and peace. Sofar… always. Thank you David. We just had our first rain today. More is to come. It’s gonna be a fresh week next week. And I love it… 🙂
