It might be a heatwave with temperatures today of 33c but Buster and I still need our daily walkies…. so it early morning then later evening to try to avoid the extremes. Starting by the River side was a good idea then over to some woodland for shade. Butterflies, Bees and insects seem to be loving the current dry spell as are the wild flowers. Not all is well though, Silver Birch my favourite tree seems to be suffering in the drought, leaves are shrivelled, dry and dropping…not sure the brief spell of rain forecast for the weekend will do very much to help. Still lets make the most of what we have to enjoy…

As for a brief rest…well your choice, a seat in the sun or shade 🙂

I am very fond of bumblebees. So the great shot on top of an onion flower is the one I love. Great photos again and yes, another stifling hot day ahead and another sticky night as well. It was 24º last night. After we have had a tremendous rain-hail-thunderstorm with one casualty when a tree fell on top of a car with the top down. Enormous amounts of water came down. This morning I checked my containers on the balcony. Almost bone dry again. Another 10 litres of water were necessary. Promises that tomorrow it will be betwee 7 and 7 degrees cooler and more rain as well. Can’t wait… 😀

Still no rain here in our central part of England. 🙂

We’re supposed to receive 33 C today as well, David, and that’s in the shade! I shudder to think what the temperatures would be if measured in open sunlight! Tomorrow, however, we’ve been promised rain! Yes, RAIN !!!
We haven’t had as much as a drop over the last 10 weeks! But, for what it’s worth – when I’m trying to save my flowers out in the garden, I sometimes send a shower straight up! It usually comes back down as ‘artificial rain’ hitting me in the face! 🙂

Yesterday e reached (local weather centre 34.7c) nearly 35c. On the patio it heat must have been in the 40’s if not higher. We had a rumble of Thunder last night and an electric display for a while….but still no rain. Plants are doing there best as am I using water sparingly to keep them going. We have severe thunderstorms forecast for this afternoon and heavy rain in places…..but they also added a caveat….not everywhere will get them. Trouble is really heavy rain on such hard ground will just run off. Longer term we are told a cool(er) Saturday, Sunday and Monday then it back to a rising thermometer again.

A couple of years from ‘desert standards’ then?
Whith those temperatures in shadow, be sure it’s exceeding 50 in direct sunlight! At least!

I think I’ll by myself another termometer which I might place directly in the sun. Just to know what my body is actually facing up to.

My wish for all those dry areas that there will be moderate rainfall soon. Lasting for days. I also hope that people will mind they CO2 footprint. When we want to cool our planet down we must stop doing several things we do too much now, like flying everywhere and eating meat. Also, in winter, don’t want a room temperature of over 20º and use LED lamps. By the way, in winter it’s 17º in my appartment. It started because of the cost and I am rather used to it.
