The River Derwent, Darley, Derbyshire
After what seems like a month or more of constant rain, we have just enjoyed 4 days of sunshine…. what bliss!. Those rains did caused problems and over December the river has been running very high and at times flooding nearby land and properties .
This welcome respite has seen the river levels drop quite quickly, back to near normal……. though at the weir the force and sound of rushing waters reminds us that it may yet have another sting in its tail…

The forecasters predict we have more heavy rains and gales for the next week or more, as the jet stream brings front after front of stormy weather towards us. The good news (depending on your point of view) is that we may well get some proper winter weather towards the month end.
Meantime I will enjoy the sunshine and the winter views along the river.

Well they have gone today…. spots of rain on the window and a glum forecaster trying to sound upbeat with tales of wow for next week.
