Early Morning at Allestree Lake, Derbyshire
A sunny start, some fluffy cloud for a change and a touch of overnight mist still lingering about. So I thought lakeside was the place to start. Surprisingly quiet this morning… the lack of people well we know the reason why, but ducks and geese seemed to be in hiding, often a sign that the day is going to get really hot.
The rest of our park was also bursting with life, blossom, flower and rich spring green leaves in abundance….. a joy to be out and about, all be it for a brief spell under the current lockdown policy.
But this is the Bluebell season, so I couldn’t not indulge myself with a look to see just how they are getting on….
This is the 4th week of Lockdown and folk are acting responsibly. The good weather is very tempting to just sit and loiter but that is not allowed. Even so I do find it sad that more folk aren’t out taking advantage of this spring sunshine and wide open space to exercise….just seems so odd to have this virtually to myself…
It is also good to think back a few weeks. It is only 5 weeks since we were coming to the end of a period of heavy rain and even floods in places. This rather insignificant little stream was, just those few weeks ago, bursting its banks and had created a mini lake. Now just muddy banks as a reminder.
Spare a thought for those who suffered so badly in the floods, lost homes, possessions and memories and now the trauma of lockdown.
Time for home and a coffee…
Please Remember ….
Stay Safe …. Be Kind…. Look After Each Other
