A Lily surprise……

A Calla Lily in the rain.

Nothing surprising about this Calla Lily….apart from the fact that we have it in flower.  Just a bit early.  Its cousin the wild Arum Lily also known as ‘Lords and Ladies’ has lots of leaf, but as yet no flower spike in its protective sheath.

Despite the rains, the Hypericum flowers are still a magnet for Bees, Wasps, Hover Flies and other insects…..  quite a busy spot….

Also venturing out in the rain were a surprising number of  folk exercising as instructed.

The sun did produce a very short flash of sunshine but the dark rain clouds were never far away.

Rather glad we had a good helping of summer in May.  Maybe it will return before too long.  Lets hope so .

    1. It may well be only one flower at the moment…but very welcome and a bright spot on a dark wet day. I do believe that you have captured the High Pressure and good weather up there in Norway and not letting it go 🙂

      1. I really wouldnæt know, David, but we have had a spell of 3 days with rains and chilly weather.
For the next 3 days, however, they promise us sunny weather and temeratures around 25 – 30 plus!!! That remains to be seen, though!

    1. That was an accident…. as you well know insects move at incredible speed….. it was a bee that I was trying to capture but thought time and finger click time lag had the two swap places 🙂
