Midnight. Loch Greshornish , Isle of Skye, Scotland
A few years ago we were on the Isle of Skye. Mid summers eve was approaching, and as we had been enjoying a series of evenings, when the sun only briefly vanished below the horizon, I was hopeful that I would get a mid summer sunset on the actual day.
I did though have a premonition, that after such a great but short run of good weather, and being on Scotland’s West Coast, that our luck could run out.
It did. Rain came heading in from the Atlantic. So I was rather pleased that I had managed to get this shot, shortly before midnight, a couple of evenings before Mid Summer.

I love this photo. The colours are amazing and the perspective is created with the inclusion of the person fishing!

Yes…without that fisherman who had stayed up late there would not have been a picture. Sometimes you get lucky 🙂

You did very well to capture that with the available midnight light. Do you have a record of your ISO, exposure, and aperture, please?

I do but not on the jpeg low resimage.
I we I’ll diggout the original file and let you know. The iso was certainly cranked up as can be seen by the noise.

As promised here are the settings. I set at 125 and F5.6 Nikon VR lens. This was the lowest I dared go shooting hand held. I then cranked up the ISO until the exposure meter balanced. It was 2000 ISO…. As the sky was bright adding to contrast of the scene I adjusted the exposure by +2/3rd. stops. Noise reduced in Define by NX Software

You did need a little luck….. I am sure if I had asked him he would have struck a pose and not look at natural as my spying caught him! 🙂
