On the edge of the Moors, above Buxton, Derbyshire
A Dry Stone Wall clings to the contours of the landscape. Hawthorns that once grew in the shelter of the wall, now tall, windswept and bent, bare and ready to face the winter.
Winter comes to Derbyshire, its severity will be anyone’s guess. Over the past few years it has been unexpectedly mild…. so, maybe this year it will be the year to revert to norm, with thick snows.. Should it snow, then that stone wall will provide shelter of sorts for the moorland sheep.
What ever winter brings….

What a great, wild photograph….those trees look as if they have had to bear the brunt of many a wind

A green winter looks rather tempting! 🙂
Our forecast predicts a warm December?!

Our Forecasters seem to vacillate between good and bad predictions…….. I guess that way they cannot be wrong 🙂

He he, no, they cannot! Weather forecasting is NOT an exact sciense, they say, and when things get tough, bot you and I become forecasters with a 50/50 chance of being correct – just as the other forecasters! 🙂

That is one magnificent rock wall. There is such art and craft in their construction.

And each county has its own style of construction. Not sure, even just here in Derbyshire, how many thousands of miles they cover.
