This Mute Swan on our Lake, is doing its very best to keep its head down. The Lake may not be frozen, but the snow has been blowing through on the back of some cold high winds. I think I share the Swans feelings…. maybe a day in bed is a good idea.
As for the snow. Well we haven’t had it as bad as many. No sooner had the snow landed that it seemed to vanish, only to repeat itself at regular intervals during the day.
No legacy of smooth white snow, no sunshine, just a cold north easterly wind.

And perhaps safely?! Over here we have had cases where birds (swans in particular) have frozen solid
into the ice sheats covering the lakes and must be helped to get free. Which is rather tricky since the ice will hold a swan back, but will not support humans!

Lake still not frozen… trying round the edges but we have persistent high wind creating waves and at-5c not freezing.
