Cannot believe our good fortune, after all the wet weather and grey days, we have enjoyed two days of blue skies and sunshine (OK the odd light shower thrown in just to keep us on our toes 🙂 ). Our good fortune is also that we have some wonderful places to walk and explore right on our own doorstep.
So this morning we were drawn to the Beech woods. The winter sun is low and with the trees just skeletons, its seek out all the dark areas….. it also starts to dry last years fallen leaves that carpet much of the woodland floor.
It is always a magical place. Maybe the shapes of some of the Beech have something to do with that feeling, it is always special.
Despite the very damp ground there was a distinct and rather pleasant woodland aroma….. you could say it had the smell of the spring to come.
As for those very occasional light showers, they did produce the odd Rainbow..
Rain or shine…. rainbows of hope….
