Bamburgh Village and Beach, voted for the third consecutive year as the “Best Beach” in Britain.
Being smug, I can say that I knew that and have done since I first discovered this treasure on the Northumberland coast, some 50 years ago. It became a regular haunt.
In fact the whole of the Northumberland Coast from Berwick upon Tweed in the north to Alnmouth to the south, is just one long magical location. It has also until recent years been a well kept secret. As a secret it has always been quiet and peaceful. Fame must make a difference…… but one cannot be selfish can one?
Wherever you are this weekend…relax and enjoy… and as always….

It’s a pity that our favourite places are spoiled by those pesky “tourists”! There are still plenty of beautiful spots all the way up that coast and into Scotland, but I’m not saying which!

These are really beautiful photos, and really highlight what makes the beach unique in the UK. I like how you can see the pristine beach, and the unique historic architecture.

Thank you by the way for sharing them, I meant to say that, but was caught up with trying to spell architecture correctly, because I am an idiot.

I can see why it would be named Best Beach. But the down side of that title, now flocks of folks will visit. So will it retain its claim or be overrun with too many beachgoers?
