Before the First Frost….

No… not more Cosmos.  These are actually the delicate flower heads of a Dahlia….  and maybe, like me, and on a quick glance, you would be mistaken.  But Dahlia they are, and this one is called “Pink Patoned Perc” – well that is what the plant label states.

Just one Dahlia Plant in this display we enjoyed yesterday.

Yesterday was a surprise in several ways.  Firstly, the sun shone from dawn in a clear blue sky.  After the past few days of very heavy rains it was an unexpected treat….. and a morning not to be waste. So we headed off to woods and gardens not to far away., wondering just how they had survived the recent winds and deluges.

The second surprise was the Dahlia borders.  What a lovely colour packed display…. and showing just how robust they can be…

Last night we had our first Frost of this autumn.  Dahlias are not frost hardy, so maybe our luck really was favouring us, as the display may not be as vibrant and sturdy today…. it certainly will not last for long.

I think we have more frost forecast for tonight… but come the new week, we head back to ride on our roller-coaster weather, possibly record high October temperatures. Oh! and more heavy rain showers.

Whatever your weather, wherever you are…..
