Flippant Friday…. Wishful Thinking ? !

Not a bad name for a pathway…. The Oaks.

I would love, but it is very unlikely that anyone would, name a path/road/track or bridleway after me.  But I did chuckle at the sign…. let me explain.

My name is Oakes, so for me the above sign is spelt wrong.  But I do know two people that I have met in the course of my working life.

One was called Oake…. the other, as per the sign Oaks

All three of us complained of the same thing…. everyone could get the Oak part right (not really surprising) but why did so many miss out ‘e’s, or ‘s’s or insert an ‘e’ when not required.  And as I have both ‘e’ and ‘s’ in my name I tendered to suffer most.

Whist it was annoying… we also enjoyed a good laugh, sharing our frustrations.

It is Friday, we made it though another week … but as always…..
