Last weekend we had dire weather warning of sever winter weather conditions for the UK. But here in middle England we have been very fortunate…. the worst we have had all week is cold temperature, at time -3c. But it has been dry, sunny and lots of blue skies.
So, you might ask, why is that so important. Well in the global context it is rather insignificant. After nearly 3 months of rain, gales, floods and dark grey skies, it seemed like a minor miracle…. a miracle that enabled us to get out and enjoy the countryside and some very fresh air…. Yep, it was cold but far better than wet and windy conditions.
Our ‘Bonus’ week started on Stanton Moor and the Nine Ladies Stone Circle. the progressed to various locations across Derbyshire. Some days frozen lakes on other reminders that the floods were still receding in places. Final destination was Kedleston Hall and its small Church of All Saints… so here is a quick tour of our week….

The frozen Lake at Kedleston, whilst starting to thaw, was a reminder that at 1pm, the best of the day was over, after all it is still winter.
Not surprising the picnic benches attracting no visitors….

Another Bonus…. At the end of each of our days out, we were welcomed home with the dying glow of the sun and the moon in a clear sky.

The weekend is here, I guess it is now our turn to share some of the bad weather forecast by the Met Office for the weekend and next week.
If you have not been as fortunate, I do hope the weather has not brought you any major upsets….. but it is the weekend so maybe a chance to keep warm and relax…. and should you venture out…. as always….
Please Remember ….
Stay Safe …. Be Kind…. Look After Each Other

Thanks for your message. we were very lucky…. not many miles away there was snow and disruption. But after the preceding 3 wet, grey months we felt we were ‘entitled’ to a few days of sunshine to get out and about and enjoy. Spring though is still a long way away. 🙂

Nice to get out and about for certain. After being sidelined with illness, I’m ready to bust out of here soon, even with cold temperatures and snow on the ground!

Some sunshine and the cold doesn’t seem so bad for a walk.. Breath deep that fresh air, Dr. Oakes says it will speed your recovery 🙂
