On Wednesday, the 1st of May, I posted an image from the archive. It was posted in anticipation of the explosion of Rhododendron that appear during the month. Anticipation as on May 1st, you get the occasional shrub in bloom, but for the best we usually have to wait a little longer.
Our weather has been wet, sun very scarce, high winds have also marked our early spring…. so I wasn’t expecting to get a call to say that our favourite Rhododendron collection was already a ‘blooming good!’ display… lots of bold rich colours and even more buds to exploded as the month proceeds.

So it was straight off on our annual pilgrimage to Lea Rhododendron Gardens at Lea Holloway, Derbyshire… why not come along for the ride….

On checking my diary May 12th has usually been the earliest with later in May being the norm…. so quite an early treat.

I hope Spring is bring its colour and scents to you….Enjoy 🙂
As always…..

Such lovely variety. Rhododendrons are blooming here in the Pacific Northwest now too – and it is rainy again for a few days!

The day at the Rhodos was the only sunny day this last week. Rain, it would appear is the norm
