Doing Nothing ….. is an impossible task
What got me thinking, and think in itself is not doing nothing, was inspired by fellow blogger Peters Pondering.Β It is worth logging on and reading his short thoughtful prose on Nothing… Here is the Link: – https://pollymermaid.wordpress.com/2024/05/11/pause-to-ponder-1/
It is a hot sunny Sunday today, after a busy week we decided to have a day “doing nothing”.Β That’s’ when todays problems started, just how do you do nothing.
Just sat in the shade trying hard to do nothing is impossible., it immediately starts the thought process… which of course is doing something. Then getting a cool beer is certainly not doing nothing….Β and drinking it is certainly doing something

Now with beer to hand, its time to sit and watch the garden grow.Β Certainly lots to enjoy… Now, did we plant those red ones in the right spot and what about those blue thingies ?..does the grass need a mow ?….. when did I cut it last… more questions as one continue to do nothing. Oh!, and those plant pots need sorting.
Even watching the ant climbing over the fading Camelia demands an amount of thought…

and did that Gecko move., maybe not..

It is jolly hard work this doing nothing lark…..

A “doing nothing Sunday” is exhausting.Β Who said weekends are for relaxing.
Yep, Monday tomorrow… so as always…

Thank you David. It’s impossible to just admire the garden without doing a bit of deadheading or weeding!

Even if that deadheading is just a passing thought…. π

Once, trying to relax and do nothing after a few hours of weeding, planting, dealing with garden pests, I sat down to rest and do nothing on a chair on the patio. Then I remembered something I needed to do at the foot of the yard.
Tired, over-heated, dehydrated, I leaned forward to move a rock, but passed out and hit the rock with my head instead! For a few seconds – till I regained consciousness – I did nothing!
I survived, miraculously, without a concussion or more than a bump on my noggin, but it was dumb luck and a thick skull that saved me.

The moral of that story is definitely to do nothing….. hope the headache has now gone π

That happened in the 1990s. To my best knowledge, no permanent harm happened that day, just a learning lesson and a brief headache!

I mentioned to someone in conversation about something that happened back in the 90’s….there surprised response was “Gosh! that was in the LAST century”…… I did explain that it was the 1990 not 1890’s π

LOL! I have to remind myself that! Born during the Truman administration, I have a frame of reference where the last century is the 19th till I stop and sort it out.

The question remains…Where did time vanish to and so quickly π€π

No kidding! I used to measure mortality by multiplying twice my age. If anyone in my life reached it to an age of that number, I felt like I had lot more time to go. At age 76, I guarantee no one in my family ever reached 152!

When I finally sit down and think I’ll just relax and do nothing, I end up jumping up to do something that I noticed needed done while I was “doing nothing.” Quite the conundrum, isn’t it?
