August 20th., and I do think we can be justified in pondering the question…. Have we had Summer ?
Not just this season, but over the whole of 2024 the weather has fluctuated. We have been told of record dry spells, record rain fall, coldest days, record breaking highs… all within the blink of an eye.
In nature it has been difficult keeping to their cyclical timetables. Some early plants failing or flowering much later, whilst usually later plants flowering early…. no matter which they all seem to have shorter lives with which to add colour to our gardens and indeed our lives.
Not long till September and the recognised start to autumn, a season I usually enjoy. I wonder what surprises it will bring… mean time lets reflect. Here is a taste of of what our truncated summer has delivered. I do hope there is more to come, but just in case…

This Rose features earlier in the month. Peters Pondering suggested it was called ” Tottering-by-Gently “, Peter may be correct. Google Identification confirms that as a possibility, it also suggest an equally appropriate name of ” Golden Wings “…. no matter which it is still a little beauty.. now here are more reflections….

A short unpredictable summer so far… but thankfully still colourful..
As it is raining once again and high winds forecast perhaps you can forgive me for think that summer has gone – I may be wrong 🙂
Whatever your seasons has been and will be… enjoy and…
Please Remember ….
Stay Safe …. Be Kind…. Look After Each Other

There’s no doubting it’s been a funny year and gardening wise it’s been pot luck what thrived and what didn’t. Still, it makes for an interesting life!

you have to ponder on just what sort of autumn we will have this year. I dont think i am imagining it but are the signs of autumn here already.

There are very definite changes to the leaves on trees, with many leaves going directly from green to brown. (lack of water?)

Love the mop top hydrangeas. Those would be a challenge.
